Happy Quotes Mini Paperbag Book # 2

Yesterday, I posted here the first of two mini books that are filled with quotes and lyrics of an uplifting nature. This is the second presentation, using many of the same papers for tags and pages.  Paperbag books are so much fun to make because there is a sense of freedom in putting things together.  Anything goes!

SEI Promise Me Paper Collection
To find quotes, I did a few internet searches and came up with hundreds of potential candidates for the book.  It would be easy to make a dozen or so mini-books with happy feeling quotes and lyrics!

I did not check for accuracy whether the quotes were accurately attributed to the authors which are listed on my pages.  Just so you know.  In case you use one for a public speech or something that might need to be fact checked. :-)

One of the six tags in the book
The bags can accommodate more than just one tag.  I may add some additional tags because I still have so many wonderful quotes that I'd like to include. Yes, even with TWO books!

The tags were cut at 6" by about 3".  Some were a little narrower because I wanted to have a bit of variety in the sizes.  The tags were topped with ribbons or diecuts used as pull-tabs.

Happy Thoughts Paperbag Mini Book

Mini Book Filled With Positive Quotes
I love to make mini books.  About half of the ones I make don't have photographs in them.  Sometimes, I make journals and other times I have made reference-type books, like a color index for inks and markers.  The idea of a "happy thoughts" type book has been bouncing around in my head for many, many months.  It was time to finally doing something about it!
Back Cover with Quote from FDR
The book is made with 6 paper bags that measure 3 1/4" wide by 6 1/2" long from a package of 12 bags that I purchased at Hobby Lobby last October.  The book has a chipboard binding with chipboard covers.  I will post a video in the next few days that shows how I made the binding and assembled the book.
Inside Pages Each Have a Tag Inserted In Them
Some of the quotes or song lyrics are stamped images from CTMH or Technique Tuesday.  The rest were all printed on cardstock.  I random stamped some of the cardstock with flowers and swirls to make the print a little more interesting.
SEI Pattern Paper Adhered to Bags to Make Book Pages
I had recently finished some other projects and had some scraps of paper sitting on my desk, so I decided to use those.  The rest of the papers came from my stash.  Some are retired SU! and CTMH papers that coordinated with the new SEI papers.

Inspiring quotes are really uplifting to me, so I ended up making TWO books.  I will post pictures of the second one tomorrow.  Thank you for stopping by today!

Paper Bag Purse Mini-Album Tutorial

A couple of years ago I taught a class on how to make these albums. The posts are here, here and here.

I have been asked to share the information on how to make them on several occasions.  Usually, I can easily provide the information when someone asks. Which is what I was thinking when another request came to me and I said that I would send it out.  Well, we have a new-ish computer  and I couldn't find the written instructions for cutting the pages and covers. As I was pondering this, I realized that there is another issue with paperbag albums in that the bags come in lots of different sizes. So I decided to make a video to share how to make a template for the covers.  Hopefully, this will help people have success with this fun project.

The inside pages are cut to cover the paperbags.  To jazz up the pages, I usually use a few different papers and vary the inside as much as the mood strikes me.  The tags are made to fit the size of the pockets.  I typically use a combination of cardstock and decorative pattern paper.  The papers in the video are all retired because these books are from January, 2010.   There are always so many wonderful new papers to choose from, so there wouldn't be any shortage of great ones to create really cute purses!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Purse Album

I used the Creative Basics Veranda Collection to make this cute variation of a paperbag album. I'll add pictures and a bit of journaling, but I'm planning on leaving a few places blank so my dd1 can add her own pictures or comments.
