Rainbow Flower Rosette Card

Edited on 6/21/2012 - Reposted after having been removed for publication.
Rosettes Made From EK Success Parisian Edge Punch
Flowers are one of my all time favorite embellishments to use on, well, just about everything!  The accordion folded rosettes are very simple to make and with this particular punch they fall into the super fast category as well.  Because of how the punch is designed, no scoring board is necessary.  It is easy to align the holes up and fold them free hand.

Stamped Sentiment From CTMH's Art Philosophy Collection
The sentiment is layered on a 2" scallop punch black circle. The rosettes would also look pretty layered on a scallop circle. All of the flowers have CTMH Pearl Opaques Adhesive Gems. Two of the smaller sized pearls were added as accents to the sentiment flower.  I love these little pearls.  The stems and leaves were cut freehand from CTMH Sonoma paper.  That cute little felt bird has been in my stash for over a year, it was with the Valentine's stuff on clearance at Michael's.

Frosted Designs Scrapbook Sketch #26

Gorgeous CTMH Roxie Paper Packet

This one page layout was so easy to do because I started with the great sketch from Debbie Burns for Frosted Designs, a photo that makes my heart sing and lots of beautiful papers.  All I had to do was make some embellishments, sew a little, hide some journaling and it was done!

Sketch is flipped on my layout
Sketches are fun because someone has gone to the work of figuring out a good, balanced plan. This provides a great jumping off point to add your own creative spin.  I love this sketch because of it's simplicity, but also because it can be glammed up as much as desired.

Seam binding flowers
The seam binding was originally off-white.  I made a pearl paint, water, re-inker mist concoction to color the ribbon.  After it dried I made these little flowers and adhered them on top of a chipboard flourish embellishment.

Paper rosette made with Martha Stewart Loops edge punch
The photo was matted onto black corrugated cardboard and sewn down on three sides to make a pocket.  The little tag at the top of the matting slides into the pocket to hide the journaling.

Supplies:
Inks: CTMH Bamboo, Smoothie and re-inker
Paper: CTMH Roxie B & T, Colonial White and (possibly Judikins?) black corrugated cardboard
Embellishments: CTMH Dimensional Elements Chipboard, CTMH Antique Copper Mini-Medley Accents, Create-a-Shade Pearl Paint, Glitz Glitter Gel, thread, seam binding, lace ribbon
Tools: Sewing machine, MS Loops edge punch, edge distresser, sponge

Bling It On!

Ranger Foil Tape Sheet cut with Spellbinders and Sizzix dies in Vagabond
This week I've been participating in an online class with Jennifer McGuire.  I've learned a few things, was reminded of tons of techniques that I rarely use and introduced to products that I didn't know I needed.  The foil tape by Ranger is one such product.  Man, I love this stuff!

CTMH Winter Joy Stamp Embossed in Silver
I used two of the Nestabilities Labels Twenty dies, and a die from the Fleur de Lis Motifs and one from the Parisian Motifs.  Lots and lots of bling on this card with self-adhesive Sparkles from CTMH.  The edges of all papers were inked with Heavenly Blue. The papers are from CTMH's Wonderland pack.

This rosette was made using the Martha Stewart Snowflake Edger Punch
For more information about the rosette please visit this post from August 31, 2011.

This card is my entry to the DYSU #37 Silver Challenge.

EK Success Parisian Edger Punch used for Handmade Paper Rosette

CTMH Wonderland Paper used for both Rosettes
The EK Success punches are easy to use.  I love how nicely the punched holes always line up with the guides and how cleanly it cuts.
Seam binding ribbon was misted with Perfect Pearls Forever Blue
The embellishment in the center of the larger rosette is a retired ribbon slide from CTMH.  After running two pieces of ribbon through it, I covered the center with Pearl Opaques Adhesive Gems (CTMH.)

CTMH Shimmer brad is the center embellishment
These rosettes were made from 12 inch long strips.  The larger rosette is made from a 1 1/2" strip.  The smaller one is a 1 inch strip.

Rosettes can be used on any type of project
These aren't too bulky and would look beautiful on scrapbook pages or cards. I had planned on using the larger one on a specific card I was making, but ended up using a different rosette instead.

Lots of Texture with Canvas Resist and Edge Puncher Rosette

CTMH Backgrounds and Borders stamped onto Sticky Back Canvas

This card was inspired by The Sweet Stop Sketch 125.  I wanted to use a new (to me) technique that I just learned from an online class with Jennifer McGuire.  I've always loved using fabric in stamping and was very disappointed when Close To My Heart discontinued selling their twill and linen adhesive backed fabric.  The stuff I used on this card is Claudine Hellmuth's White Sticky Back Canvas (12" by 12".) It is available at many scrapbooking stores. This fun technique is easy to do and gives a beautiful, very textural  effect.
Of course, I used an edger punch to make the rosette.  This is a new one that I haven't posted yet.
Fiskars Diamond Border Punch with Paper Rosette
This rosette was made with two 12 inch strips of CTMH Wonderland paper.  One was 1 inch wide, the other 1 1/2 inches wide.  After scoring and folding the paper strips, I adhered them as one flower. See the photo below.
Double layer paper rosette made into one flower
The rosette was embellished with part of a fancy brad set from Hobby Lobby.  I took the brad out and covered over the hole with a CTMH Blue Sparkle instead.

Love that sparkle!

Close up view of the canvas, Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Accent border and rosette
I used a few bits and pieces of some Spellbinder die cuts that I had left over from other projects.  These were embellished with CTMH Pearl Adhesive Gems.

The sentiment was stamped with Crystal Blue ink and  popped up with foam tape
The seam tape ribbon was colored with Breeze Recollections Chalk ink.  This is the same ink used on the canvas after embossing.  I painted it with Tattered Angels Glam paint.  Which removed almost all the color!  So when it was dry I re-inked the canvas.  A good learning process. :-)

This card is my entry for playing along with the following challenges:

Making Paper Rosettes With Spellbinders Dies

Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Accents die used for paper rosettes
These flowers were made with 1 1/2" by 12" strips of paper cut with the 9" Fleur de Lis Accent die.
Here is a video tutorial showing how to make them:

The photo below gives a sense of their completed size when pictured with the die.  They are not very wide, but they are deep, due to the way I chose to fold them.
Papers and embellishments are from CTMH

Martha Stewart Double Arches Deep Edge Punch Rosette Flower

Two layers of CTMH Sonoma paper rosettes
The center of the flower is embellished with a metal flower and pearl brad from Hobby Lobby.  This flower measures about four inches across.  Due to the size of the punch, the strips are deeper (wider) than most of the other rosettes on my blog.

The Martha Stewart deep edge punches have wonderfully intricate cuts
This rosette will be perfect on a layout or a home decor item.  It's pretty big for a card. :-)

Six Inch Scallop Kraft Card with CTMH Believe Paper and Holiday Pockets

Baker's Twine is a nice festive embellishment
I had a plan to start making one Christmas card every week starting in the beginning of September.  Well, I didn't realize that it was already the SECOND week of September when I started this card last night!  Wow, does time fly!  This clean and simple card uses all CTMH materials except for the baker's twine.

Paper rosette made with Martha Stewart Scallop 3-dot edge punch
The sentiment stamped in the corner comes from the Christmas Cheer set. The card base is from the Kraft Die-Cut card set.  The circles are punched with 1/2" and 3/4" punches from SU!.

Rosettes made with CTMH's Believe B & T Paper
The strips were cut at one inch and 1 1/2 inches by 12 inches, respectively.  The centers are cut with punches from another paper in the same pack.  The small circle is a 3/4" punch and the scallop on the right is two inches.

Martha Stewart Spider Web Edger Punch = Paper Flower Fun!

This fringe-y looking flower was made from a MS Edge Punch!
The paper and embellishments are from Close To My Heart.  Two strips of paper were punched with the Spider Web Edger punch.  Then they were scored, folded, glued at the ends, layered and glued into pinwheels.

Heart Chain Edge Punch Makes a Beautiful Paper Flower

All paper and embellishments are from Close To My Heart
I've been posting paper flowers every day for about a week so I'm not including a lot of instructions on this post.  If you have any questions please leave a comment or email me.
The edger punch comes from Martha Stewart's Punch Around the Page Heart Chain Set.

The two 12 inch long strips are placed together prior to hot gluing flat into a paper rosette.

Doily Lace Edge Paper Flower Using Martha Stewart Crafts Punch

Aside from the punch, all supplies are from Close to My Heart
This has to be one of my favorite paper flowers.  It was made using two pieces of B & T paper cut into 12" strips.  One is 1" wide, the other is 1 1/2" wide.  The strips were scored and folded at each peak and valley.

Martha Stewart edge punches are easy to use and give really lovely results.
(I should probably mention that I'm not affiliated with Martha Stewart, EK Success or any other edge punch company.  There is no financial motive for me to share this information. Actually, in the name of research, it will probably cost me a whole lot more to continue to post my findings! :-)  It's a good thing my dh doesn't read my blog!)

Two rosettes layered together prior to hot gluing.
The embellishments on this flower are made from ribbon and a ribbon slide and glued down with a 3-D glue dot.

Paper Rosette Made With Martha Stewart Snowflake Edger Punch

This pretty paper flower is made using a MS Edger Punch that embosses as well as cuts
I'm not sure if this punch is available any longer, because I had difficulty finding the exact name for it.  It punches little snowflakes and embosses a snowflake in between each cut.  It makes a beautiful border design and a lovely paper rosette!

Martha Stewart's punches are made by EK Success
This paper rosette was made by cutting two 12 inch strips of Daisy White CTMH cardstock.  One piece is 1" wide, the other is 1 1/2" wide.  The cardstock is easy to punch because it isn't too thick.  After scoring it in the middle of each snowflake, the smaller strip was sponged with Crystal Blue CTMH ink.  The strips were then accordion folded, glued at the ends to make a continuous loop and then hot glued into a pinwheel.

The layers were put together to form one flower prior to hot gluing
The tips of each "petal" were adorned with CTMH's Bitty Sparkles and the center is a Silver Shimmer brad measuring 5/8' across.  The finished flower is 2 3/4" in diameter.

Paper Rosette Made With Threading Water Border Punch From Fiskars

Dreamin' B & T Decorative Paper from Close To My Heart
The two strips are 12" long.  One is 1" wide, the other is 1 1/2" wide.  The strips are punched with the Fiskars edge punch. Each peak and valley is scored and folded accordion style.  The ends are glued together to make a continuous loop with makes a little lamp shade looking thing.  See below.
B & T paper is now double sided with different designs.  Either side would be pretty as a rosette.
I stacked the smaller layer on top of the larger rosette before hot gluing to make one unit, rather than two separate flowers.  I then made a seam binding ribbon flower on sticky tape to adhere to the top of the rosette.

Pretty pinwheel pictured with the Fiskar's Threading Water Border Punch
This is a perfect flower to add to a card intended for mailing.  I would probably use an oversized envelope with a little padding if I didn't want it to get smooshed.

Making Paper Flowers With Decorative Edge Scissors

Paper rosette using Fiskars Edger Scissors and Tim Holtz Sprocket Gears
A 12" x 1 1/2" piece of Mischief B & T paper from Close To My Heart was cut using this pair of Fiskars scissors.  I'm not sure of the name of the cut edge because it doesn't say on the scissors, like some of the Fiskar's scissors do.
Possibly this is Majestic or Imperial Fiskars Decorative Edger Scissors
After the strip was cut, scored, folded and glued. It was time to embellish. I love Tim Holtz's Ideology line and used two pieces from his Sprockets and Gears set.  The top layer is a clip and brad from CTMH.
The layering of Tim Holtz and CTMH products looks great on this paper flower
This last flower is also made with an unidentified pair of Fiskars Edger Scissors.
CTMH Mischief B & T Paper cut into a strip for a pretty pinwheel rosette
I store all of my Fiskars scissors in a bag designed for them. Unfortunately many of them are not labeled, so I don't know which scissor to give credit to for the pretty edge cuts. I've had these for probably a decade, so remembering isn't an option!
Possibly this is the Postage Stamp Edger from Fiskars?
The weight of Close to My Hearts new B & T papers is perfect for this type of handcrafted embellishment.  Some of the lighter weight decorative papers don't hold up as well to all the handling of cutting, scoring and folding.
This is a single layer paper rosette embellished with a large gold  Shimmer brad from CTMH
As I continue to make more paper flowers with the rest of my  Fiskars Edger scissors collection I'll post more pictures.  If you know the names of the ones I've already posted, please let me know.
