CTMH's Designed Decor Frame Kit

I love this frame from CTMH.  It can be purchased separately or as a kit. The kit includes a B-sized stamp set, the cute mini wooden clothespins, some bakers twine, and kraft paper die cut shapes - pictured above.

Right now it is hanging in my office. I can display cards that I have made or ones received from family and friends, project ideas, samples of materials for future projects, inspirational quotes, pictures of my kids, etc. I might have to get another one for the kitchen. In the kitchen, I would hang recipes, grocery lists, notes to the family, reminders to myself, etc.

Embossed Two- Step Stamping

Happy Monday!  Thank you for visiting.  Today I have a short video about two-step stamping. In it I explain what two step stamping is and how to do it using the So Grateful (B1395) stamp set from CTMH.  This technique can be used with many different stamps.  Take a look at your collection and see what you can create from your stash.

Clean Up My Desk Card - Mailable Cards Week

After working on a few projects, I end up with several usable pieces of stuff that did not make it into the original project.  I prefer to work at a clean desk and try to tidy up after each big project. Sometimes I am in a bit of a hurry and a little pile of sort-of-discards starts to accumulate. That is what has happened over the last few weeks.  It was time to take back my surface space and clean up!

Vellum Stamped and Embossed with White - Colored On Reverse

These little trees were too cute to throw away so I put them on a card along with some baker's twine and called it done.  Each was stamped on a different color paper. From the left hand-side: Black ink on white cardstock, white embossing on vellum, and white embossing on black cardstock.  After fussy cutting, they were popped up with foam tape on a Sorbet colored background.

This size card will fit into a business size (number 10) envelope, so it would not require any extra postage. It is 8 1/2" long and 3 1/4" tall.

Dresses Cut From Cricut Artiste Cartridge

On this layout, I used white baker's twine to string a clothesline. I love these cute little clothespins! It was nice to finally be able to use them, after having stored them for years.  Yellow baker's twine was wrapped around the bottom of the picture with a piece of yellow hemp.  I used three different alphabets for the title.  A little bit of journaling is on the half-circle/wheel.

Frosted Designs Final Card Sketch Challenge

Life is Tweet Card

Paper Pieced Stamped Bird Images

 The June Stamp of the Month set from Close to My Heart is Life is Tweet.  I decided to use the larger bird with CTMH Stella paper and the smaller one with the Dotty paper from May's National Scrapbooking promotion.  The butterfly image above, comes from the CTMH Card Word Puzzle set.  This was stamped on a piece of yellow polka dot "Dotty" paper and then glitter glued over the top with CTMH Stardust Glitz Gel. The butterfly pictured below, on the inside of the card, was fussy cut from the Dotty paper pack.

Frosted Designs Card Challenge #21 - Card Three

Elemental Complements Dimensional Elements (chipboard circles) From CTMH

Ann's sketch was so much fun to follow that I wanted to make several cards using it.  This one most closely follows the sketch and was the fastest to make.  It uses some fun patterned paper, coordinating chipboard shapes, bakers twine, cardstock and one tiny stamped image.

I used a scallop edge punch on the cardstock to frame the center focal point.  The baker's twine from CTMH matches it perfectly, so I ran a piece on both the top and bottom strips.

Elemental B & T Paper From CTMH

The chipboard (Dimensional Elements) isn't very thick, so this will easily fit into an envelope.  The card is 5 1/2" square.  The patterned paper is the heavier weight paper that CTMH introduced last summer, so I used it for the card base.  However, because it is double sided, I placed a blank sheet of cardstock inside for a message.

A Note For You Card With SEI 6 x 6 Paper Stack

Fiskars Threading Water and EK Success Scrolls and Dots Edge Punches Add Detail

Maybe I should call this "Edge Punch Week" as everyday, so far, the cards have been made using different punches!  This is a simple card with baker's twine and another piece of fiber to offer some additional texture.  There is a scrap of linen behind the sentiment, which is from CTMH's Just For You set.

I love the embossed telephone/chair paper in this stack from SEI.  The striped paper came from the same pad.  It is from the Promise Me collection.

Sympathy Cards

 First, let me say "Thank You" to all of the past and present members of our military and to their families for your service to our country.  Memorial Day is tomorrow, but I think of your sacrifices everyday.  Many years ago, I had the honor of teaching elementary school in a district that had a large military population.  It was a learning opportunity for me because I had not known any military families before then. It was humbling to see, first hand, the commitment and dedication these brave women and men exhibited before, during and after September 11, 2001. Thank you for keeping freedom, free.

On this weekend, I thought I would share some sympathy cards.  I prefer to have some of these made up before they are needed because I do not much feel like creating them when the time comes to send one.

Martha Stewart Double Arches Punch Around the Page Layers

 This card is a 6" square.  Both layers of paper on top of the base were cut with MS punches.  The top white cardstock layer was spritzed with Cappuccino Perfect Pearls and stamped with a CTMH stamp.  The cameo is a button from Joann's.  I decided to frame the inside layer with the black May Arts ribbon because it seemed very 'busy' without it.

 The second card was stamped and embossed in green ink.  I love PSX stamps because of their fine detail.  Unfortunately, they went out of business a few years ago. The card is layered on a dark green base and embellished with CTMH pearls and a piece of lace from my stash.

Masculine Sympathy Card

 The last card is layers of linen and cardstock.  On top of the textured cardstock base I adhered a piece of linen fabric wrapped with a piece of baker's twine. I wanted to keep this card very simple and only added a few black pearls to the focal point sentiment.  The embossed piece of white cardstock made a nice backdrop for the linen with the stamped image. This was done on a piece cut with a Spellbinders die and inked around the edges.

Lots of Texture

Graduation Projects

Each 7" x 6" Plain Chipboard Pennant Covered and Decorated

 Last weekend my older dd graduated from the University of Arizona.  I am so proud of her!  Younger dd and I made some things to decorate the entryway for when she came home after the commencement on Saturday.  The "Congratulations" banner looks much nicer in person, but I think you can see some of the detail in the first picture above.  I used a pre-cut chipboard base from CTMH.  Each of the letters was cut from very old paper from CTMH using the Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge. The same paper packs were used to cover the pennants and make rosettes, etc.

The letters were tied together with baker's twine.  It is nice that her school colors are so patriotic!  I will probably recycle some of the pieces for the Fourth of July. :-)

3 Giant Tissue Paper Flowers Made by 7 Year Old Daughter

 The "2012" on the tissue paper flowers was cut using the Silhouette Cameo and adhered with glue dots.  I think my younger dd did a great job making these big tissue paper flowers..  They are very easy to make.  Accordion fold the paper and tie a wire around the center.  A good fluffing and they are ready!

This note was hanging on the wall on the way to the kitchen.  It sums it all up!

Cruisin' Cards

CTMH Cruisin' B & T Duos Paper

 Hi Blog Friends!  It has been almost a week since I last posted.  It is for all good reasons, though.  My dd1 was home on Spring Break and we had a nice, though too short, visit.  I miss her.  The card pictured above will go in the mail for her tomorrow.

Cricut Art Philosophy Shape 2 with Stamped Image and Chipboard Dimensional Element

 While the paper packet was out, I decided to make a couple other very easy and simple to assemble cards.  These are all standard 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" cards.  The background patterned papers were all cut at 5 1/4" x 4" so that the White Daisy card base would frame them. On all of them, I used baker's twine.  It is a fun and quick embellishment.  And so cool that the colors match the paper exactly!

 The Dimensional Elements (chipboard) pieces are cut to match the stamp image shapes from the Art Philosophy Cartridge.  I cut the black cardstock shape a quarter inch bigger with the Cricut to act as a frame/base for the image.

CTMH Grey Wool Bakers Twine Tied Around Background Cruisin' B & T Map Paper

 The three different patterned papers pictured on the cards are all double sided.  None of the reverse sides were used on these cards.  One has a beautiful grey pattern, one is filled with Scrabble pieces, and the third is a black base with swirly lines in different complementary colors that match the fronts.

Frosted Designs Tuesday Card Sketch #14

4 1/2" Round Card

Welcome to another Frosted Designs Card Sketch Challenge!  I am so excited to share a fun new sketch created by our own Card Team Leader, Ann Bacon!  This sketch and shape seem so fresh and a bit edgy to me.  Which made me think of these new papers from CTMH called Footloose.  I think they fit this sketch perfectly.  But really, the fun of the sketch is to see everyone's interpretation of it!  So please play along and link up your card at Frosted Designs.

As you can see, I swapped out the center blossom for a wooden star fish.  And the two round embellishments, I changed for one larger seashell/fan shape.  See? Anything on a sketch can be modified to suit your taste.  That is the super, cool thing about sketches... they give you a starting place and then you can make it all your own.  I Love That!

Hello Blogger Friends!  Today, I wanted to share with you a clean and simple looking card that uses only three colors: Sky, Smoothie and Black.  I love the color combination and hope that the pictures show the striking contrast that is apparent in real life!

Rainbow Bears

 Rainbows, teddy bears, and balloons make such a happy combination!  If they arrive all together in an envelope, maybe it will feel like receiving a party in the mail?  I must have been channeling my inner child on this one. :-)  It reminds me of all those bright Lisa Frank stickers that I used to love.

Stamped Sentiment from CTMH Art Philosophuy Collection

Those cute little red heart pearls were on clearance last year from Michael's after Valentine's Day.  My goal this week is to use things that I have on hand.  Some of the things in my stash are almost vintage, I've had them for so long!
For example, the punches I used are ones I have had for many years.  The bear punch is one of the first Marvy punches that I purchased in the mid 1990's.  Mickey Mouse is from All Night Media. I thought he would make a cute balloon.  Both of these shapes were used to punch out a black piece of paper to work as a "shadow" underneath the colored paper on top. I used scraps of patterned paper for the bears and cardstock for the Mickey balloons.  The green and purple bakers twine was made from the white CTMH baker's twine and colored with Copic markers. The red twine came from Amazon.com and is a lot thinner than the other colors.  All the rest came from CTMH.

Banner will flatten for mailing

After punching a hole for each balloon string, I threaded each of them to the back and taped them with Scotch tape. I did not want the recipient to see my handiwork inside the card, so the front panel was adhered to the cardstock base.
